Well friends, I hope everyone is enjoying the SUNSHINE!! I know I am! I could never like in Alaska or the Arctic, a few cloudy days and I am feeling it. (NOT in a good way!)
We had a cold weekend, but it gave me an excuse to focus on an inside project!
I guess I am your typical domestic gal, in addition to cooking, I love gardening and sewing.
Really, anything that lets me bring beauty into the world with "my own two hands" sort of thing.
It is not quite time for gardening, although I did rework this old, broken bird bath the other day.
It will add a nice touch of greenery to an otherwise boring little spot.
This coming week I will be adding a few new urns in the front entry area and putting in some daffodils and other spring bulbs. There are a few there now, but I think it could stand a little updating and come spring it will make such an impactful entrance.
I promise to add pics!!
My other project this week has been a spring/Valentine's dress for one of my nieces. I am loving how it turned out! 💕💕💕
This was a new one for me, I've not done anything with sleeves before.
It was much easier than I expected. I can't wait for her to have it! I am making her brother a matching bow tie.I am so excited! I think that I get more excited than they do!
On the food front, I have been a terrible photographer, but I am working on adding recipes for you guys this time.
With it being so cold the last few weeks I have been leaning heavily into the warm, comforting wintertime food.
Enter - Clam Chowder (or "chowda", depending upon which part of the country you hail!)
A simple, warm and filling soup that can be made to suit your tastes! So, so good! Add a sprinkle of Spicy Ranch Oyster crackers and you have a seriously hearty little soup!
So, back to my Recipes goal! I am working on writing them down, making note of what I am doing and when. Yall, I am a "season with your heart" girl and like to go with my feelings when cooking! My mother in law watches me while cooking, because she says that she follows the recipes I send her, but it is just not the same! Lol! She has quite astutely noted that I rarely follow the recipe as written and just "get in there and get cooking".
It's true. It is who I am! To me, cooking is truly me at my most creative and natural. I only cook for people that I like! I SWEAR, you can tell in the results! If my heart is not in it, it is not that great. Is that weird?
So, first up I will put the Clam Chowder and Spicy Ranch Oyster Crackers.
Then, will be Blackened Chicken Alfredo, Ham and Cheddar Quiche, T's Triple Decker Nachos, and my Copycat Indian Pass Trading Company Shrimp. (Can you tell I am just listing out my menu for the week!?!)
Have you ever been there? It is a wonderful little place down on 30A. We love it!
I made my husband sample so many shrimp while I was getting the recipe right! I almost felt bad for him!!
I think it is a spot on dupe, and am pretty proud of myself!
Have a wonderful week!
Cheers!! 🥂
